As January wraps up, California residents are gearing up for the February disbursements of CalFresh benefits. CalFresh, California’s version of the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), supports eligible low-income individuals and families by providing monthly benefits to purchase nutritious foods. The program is a crucial resource for those in need, offering financial assistance via an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which can be used like a debit card at participating stores and farmers markets.
Each recipient’s benefit disbursement date depends on their case number, with the last digit of the case number determining when the benefits are issued. Payments are typically processed during the first 10 days of each month.
How CalFresh Works:
To receive CalFresh benefits, individuals must apply through the Get CalFresh website, where they’ll submit an online application. Following that, the county office will contact applicants for an eligibility interview. If approved, an EBT card is sent within about 10 days.
To stay updated on the status of their benefits, recipients can use the Benefits Cal app or contact the CalFresh helpline at 1-877-847-3663. Residents can also visit their local CDSS office for assistance.

According to data from Propel, which tracks payments for over 5 million users, about 92% of recipients receive their benefits by midnight on the designated date.
Here’s a breakdown of when to expect CalFresh payments in February, based on your case number’s last digit:
