It seems like retail giants are falling one after another in Utah and Nevada, and the latest to join the closure trend is none other than Big Lots. While inflation is certainly a factor in the decline, the real shift here is the overwhelming rise of online shopping. In 2025, more consumers are opting for the convenience of shopping from their phones or laptops rather than visiting brick-and-mortar stores. In recent years, we’ve said goodbye to brands like Bed Bath & Beyond, Rue 21, and Sunday Morning, and now, Big Lots is calling it quits.
Big Lots has announced it will be shutting down 350 of its locations across the U.S., and unfortunately, Utah and Nevada are among the states affected. Three Utah stores are already on the list for closure:

Big Lots has been a well-known name for nearly 60 years, originally launching as a closeout business before becoming a leader in discount retail. Known for offering brand-name products at unbeatable prices, the retailer has been a staple for budget-conscious shoppers across the country. But now, with closures on the horizon, it’s a good time to grab those last-minute deals before these stores close their doors for good.
