A stabbing incident on January 16 in Salt Lake City left a victim in critical condition with severe injuries. Authorities responded quickly to the scene after receiving reports of the attack around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of 1470 South and State Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the sidewalk with a deep abdominal wound, with parts of their intestines exposed. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Nathaniel Pratt Ferguson, 20, was arrested shortly after the attack. Police say he was still at the scene when they arrived, and he was taken into custody without incident. A large kitchen knife was found on the street near the location of the stabbing.

During the investigation, Ferguson allegedly confessed to stabbing the victim “one or two times” in the abdomen, claiming the victim had asked him to do so. Ferguson faces charges of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and possession of a dangerous weapon as a restricted person.
