A peaceful Monday morning in Salt Lake City’s Rose Park neighborhood was interrupted when officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) responded to a bank robbery. The incident occurred at a bank on 783 North Redwood Road, with SLC911 receiving an emergency call around 9:36 a.m., according to SLCPD.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Martinez, allegedly jumped over the bank counter and demanded money, though he did not display a weapon. The exact amount of money taken has not been released. After the robbery, Martinez fled the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. Later that day, Martinez’s attempt to escape was thwarted when two SLCPD officers, working an off-duty shift, spotted him near 1300 South and 300 West. The officers arrested him without incident, and he was subsequently booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. The department described the arrest as “safe.”
