SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A new era begins for the Salt Lake Bees as they prepare to take the field for the first time at their newly constructed stadium in South Jordan on Tuesday. While excitement is high, fans may notice a big change — ticket prices that are significantly steeper than those at the team’s previous home.
The Bees’ new home, The Ballpark at America First Square, sits in the heart of South Jordan’s Daybreak neighborhood and is the result of months of construction work that began in October 2023. With a more intimate 8,000-seat capacity, the stadium is nearly half the size of Smith’s Ballpark, which held 15,500 fans.
Steep Rise in Season Ticket Prices
One of the most noticeable differences at the new ballpark is the cost of season tickets. Last season, top-tier “Diamond” seats at Smith’s Ballpark cost $1,350 for a full season, working out to about $18 per ticket. This year, however, the best seats at the Ballpark at America First Square are priced at $3,525 — or roughly $47 per ticket. That’s a $29 increase per game, more than double the previous rate.
Opening Game Tickets Nearly Sold Out
For those hoping to catch the Bees in action during their debut at the new park, limited single-game tickets remain available for Tuesday’s matchup against the Reno Aces. Fans can still find seats on Ticketmaster, with terrace-level tickets priced at $35 and bullpen seats going for $39. As availability dwindles, some fans may have to turn to resale markets, where prices range from $40 to over $200.
What to Expect for Future Games
Looking ahead, general admission lawn seats will start at $13 for future games, while standard seating will vary from $25 to $51 depending on the location and matchup. Although these prices are still cheaper than major league games, they’re on the higher end compared to other minor league teams.
For example, tickets to an Oklahoma City Comets game cost between $16 and $29, while the Sacramento River Cats’ home games offer seats ranging from $11 to $31, with premium options topping out at $79.
New Amenities Aim to Enhance the Fan Experience
Despite the higher prices, the new venue is designed to offer a more elevated experience for fans. According to Miller Sports + Entertainment, the ballpark will feature nine new food and drink concessions on opening night, with six additional vendors set to join later this season. The stadium also includes a children’s play area, making it more family-friendly than ever before.
The team’s ownership has yet to respond to inquiries about the ticket price hike, but fans and local media alike are eager to hear more about the reasoning behind the change.
As the Bees buzz into their new home, fans will soon decide whether the upgraded amenities are worth the added cost .
