
AMERICAN FORK, Utah – A chemical explosion in American Fork on Wednesday left one person injured, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, according to the Lehi Fire Department.
Fire crews from American Fork, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, and Provo rushed to the scene on March 19 after reports of a hazardous materials incident. The explosion, which involved dangerous chemicals, escalated quickly, leading officials to call in the Utah County Special Response Team (SRT) for assistance.
Authorities confirmed that one individual sustained chemical burns and was transported to a specialized burn unit after receiving immediate medical attention from first responders.
Emergency teams worked swiftly to contain the situation, neutralizing the hazardous materials to prevent further risks. Officials reminded the public to prioritize safety when dealing with chemicals and encouraged vigilance in reporting potentially dangerous situations.
“Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we appreciate the rapid response and professionalism of the crews who handled this emergency,” officials stated.
