SANDY, Utah – Sandy City has officially formed a new sister city partnership with Bucha, Ukraine, strengthening international ties and fostering collaboration between the two communities.
Mayor Monica Zoltanski, alongside city council members, residents, and representatives from the Utah Ukrainian Association, gathered on Monday to celebrate the agreement. The partnership was unanimously approved by the Sandy City Council in November 2024, with Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk signing the agreement the following month.
A Growing Global Connection
This new partnership opens the door for cultural and student exchanges, economic initiatives, tourism promotion, and humanitarian efforts between the two cities. Officials say the agreement will encourage mutual understanding and create opportunities for residents to engage in meaningful cross-cultural experiences.
Bucha now joins Piedras Negras, Mexico, and Riesa, Germany, as one of Sandy’s official sister cities. City leaders hope this latest collaboration will strengthen international goodwill and cooperation in the years to come .
