
WEST JORDAN, Utah – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man early Sunday morning. Officers discovered the victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds near 7900 South 6400 West.
According to the West Jordan Police Department, the investigation revealed that the victim, Hugo Lucero, 19, had been involved in a heated argument at a party before being shot. Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Tayden Huntsman, who later confessed to the shooting.
Huntsman now faces multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated murder (first-degree felony)
- Felony discharge of a firearm (third-degree felony)
- Witness tampering (third-degree felony)
- Obstruction of justice (second-degree felony)
Authorities noted that Huntsman had ties to gang activity and was officially documented as a gang member as of February 2, 2025.
In a statement, the West Jordan Police Department expressed gratitude to the community for providing crucial information that helped advance the case.
