SALT LAKE CITY – Utah is in for a snowy start to the week as winter weather advisories remain in effect for northern, central, and southern mountains through Tuesday morning.
Snowfall Expectations
- 4-8 inches of snow are expected in most mountain areas, with higher totals in locations like Upper Cottonwoods, Tushar Mountains, Pahvant Range, and Brian Head.
- Higher valleys could see 1-3 inches, though accumulation may be limited due to daytime snowfall and increasing sun angles.
- Lower valleys are unlikely to receive significant snowfall.
Midweek Storm Brings More Snow
A stronger storm system is expected to arrive Wednesday night through Friday, bringing heavier snowfall and slightly cooler temperatures.
- Snow levels will drop to valley floors Thursday night into Friday morning, increasing the likelihood of accumulation during the Friday morning commute.
- This storm carries more moisture than the early-week system, which could result in higher snow totals across the region.
Weekend Outlook
Following the storm, drier and warmer conditions are forecasted for the weekend, offering a break from the wintry weather.
