BINGHAM COUNTY, ID – A Utah man was discovered deceased inside his vehicle along Interstate 15 in Idaho late Friday night, prompting a homicide investigation by the Idaho State Police (ISP).
ISP troopers were traveling northbound on February 28 when they noticed a white 2008 Toyota Camry parked on the shoulder near mile marker 85 with its hazard lights flashing. Stopping to assist, officers found the 31-year-old driver inside the vehicle, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
The Bingham County Coroner’s Office has classified the case as a homicide. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
As part of the investigation, police closed the northbound lanes of I-15 overnight to ensure the safety of responders and travelers. The highway has since reopened.
ISP is asking for the public’s help in gathering information. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the Toyota Camry, noticed other vehicles stopped nearby, or witnessed anything suspicious in the area.
