After nearly four hours of effort, rescuers finally freed the driver of a semitruck that overturned on Legacy Parkway. The injured driver was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
The rollover sent shockwaves through Centerville as traffic ground to a halt along the roadway. Officials told ABC4.com that Legacy Parkway will remain closed for several more hours while crews work to remove the massive truck from the scene.
Lt. Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that first responders, including a Life Flight helicopter, were called to the scene after the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon near Parrish Lane. Although the exact cause of the rollover remains unknown, authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
With the highway blocked, traffic was diverted, and while congestion has begun to ease—extending as far as Bountiful—commuters are still being urged to use alternate routes until the roadway is fully cleared. The latest update suggests that the highway could reopen by around 2:30 p.m.
ABC4.com continues to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as new information emerges.
