A 31-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday when he was intercepted by police on his way to pick up a 14-year-old girl, according to Kaysville Police.
Anthony Anderson, 31, was arrested in Davis County on kidnapping, endangerment of a child, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an additional 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Anderson met the 14-year-old girl online about two weeks prior to his arrest. On Jan. 21, Anderson reportedly picked up the victim from school and gave her marijuana, as well as a cell phone to continue communicating with him.
Later that night, Anderson “again drove to Layton from Salt Lake County,” a press release from Kaysville Police states, with the intent to meet with the victim a second time.

“This time, Anderson was intercepted by the police,” the release states.
While being held for questioning, Anderson admitted to knowing the victim was 14 years old, police said. He reportedly also admitted to offering to pick her up and bringing marijuana to use.
Anderson told police that he intended to start dating the victim in four years when she turned 18. He also stated that he knew he should not have been developing a relationship with a 14-year-old girl, but “continued to do so because he was lonely,” the release states.
Police obtained a warrant for Anderson’s phone and found child sexual abuse material on the device, resulting in 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Anderson was booked into Davis County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
This is an ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time.
Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
