If you were affected by a recent Progressive data breach, you could be entitled to a payment of up to $5,000. The insurance company has agreed to a $3.25 million settlement following claims that it failed to safeguard sensitive customer information. But time is running out to file a claim.
Who Is Eligible?
The settlement applies to individuals whose personal data, including Social Security numbers and financial account details, may have been exposed due to a security incident at a third-party call center working with Progressive. The breach took place between May 2021 and May 2023, potentially leaving customer data vulnerable to unauthorized access.
How Much Can You Get?
Eligible claimants may receive up to $5,000 if they can provide documentation of financial harm caused by the breach. This could include fraudulent transactions, identity theft expenses, or credit monitoring costs.

If you were affected but don’t have documented financial losses, you may still qualify for a cash payment, though the exact amount will depend on the total number of claims submitted and available funds.
Additional Benefits
Beyond financial compensation, class members are also eligible for three years of free credit monitoring and identity theft insurance, including three-bureau monitoring and up to $1 million in coverage.
Important Deadlines
To take advantage of this settlement, eligible individuals must submit a claim by February 18, 2025. A final approval hearing is set for February 25, 2025, after which payments will be distributed.

Progressive isn’t the only company facing legal consequences over data security failures. Nonstop Administration and Insurance Services has also agreed to settle a lawsuit related to a 2022 data breach that exposed private information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical records, and prescription details.
