A Utah man has been arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault after allegedly holding a woman captive in her Salt Lake City apartment.

Police reports indicate that Murray threatened the woman with a knife, placed her in a chokehold, and forcibly threw her to the ground. Authorities say he then told the victim that he planned to hold her hostage for five days.

The woman managed to escape on Friday, telling Murray she needed to speak with her landlord before leaving the apartment. She then contacted the police, leading to Murray’s arrest.

A judge in Third District Court ruled that Murray would be held without bail. Additionally, police noted that Murray is currently on probation for a previous aggravated assault case .
