31-Year-Old Man Hospitalized After Salt Lake City Hit-and-Run Crash
A 31-year-old man was hospitalized after being struck by a black Audi in Salt Lake City early Saturday morning. The driver fled the scene, but quick-thinking private security guards stepped in to help track them down.
Incident Details
The crash happened at 700 South and 600 West, where initial reports suggest the victim may have been crossing the street when the car hit him, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD).
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital. He remains in serious but stable condition.
Driver Flees, But Security Guards Take Action
Instead of stopping, the Audi driver sped away. A Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) trooper in the area attempted to pursue the suspect, but they managed to evade capture.

However, private security guards who may have witnessed the crash decided to follow the fleeing vehicle while notifying law enforcement. The chase ended near 1820 West 465 North, where an argument reportedly broke out between the security guards and the driver. The guards successfully detained the suspect until police arrived.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are investigating whether the Audi was involved in street racing at the time of the crash. Police have determined that the driver was impaired, though no further details have been released about their identity or the victim.
