31-Year-Old Salt Lake Man in Serious Condition After Hit-and-Run
Salt Lake City – A 31-year-old man was hospitalized after being struck by a black Audi in Salt Lake City early Saturday morning, according to police. The driver fled the scene, but private security guards stepped in to help authorities track them down.
Hit-and-Run at 700 South and 600 West
Salt Lake City police reported that the collision occurred near 700 South and 600 West. Initial investigations indicate the victim may have been crossing the street when the Audi hit him. Instead of stopping, the driver sped away from the scene.
A Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) trooper, who happened to be nearby, attempted to pull the driver over, but they managed to escape.
Security Guards Track Down the Suspect
Witnessing the incident, private security guards in the area decided to follow the fleeing vehicle while notifying UHP. They eventually caught up with the suspect near 1820 West 465 North.

A confrontation reportedly took place between the driver and the security guards, who then detained the suspect until police arrived.
Possible Street Racing and Impairment Investigated
Salt Lake City police are investigating whether street racing may have played a role in the crash. Authorities also determined that the driver was impaired at the time of the incident.
Victim and Suspect Identities Not Released
The 31-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. No further details about the driver’s identity or potential charges have been made public at this time .
