Salt Lake City Hit-and-Run: 31-Year-Old Man in Serious Condition
A 31-year-old man was seriously injured early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Salt Lake City. The suspect initially fled the scene, but thanks to quick-thinking private security guards, authorities were able to apprehend the driver.
The Incident
According to a statement from the Salt Lake City Police Department, the crash happened near 700 South and 600 West when a black Audi struck the man as he may have been crossing the street. Instead of stopping, the driver took off, prompting a Utah Highway Patrol trooper in the area to attempt a traffic stop. However, the suspect managed to evade law enforcement.

Security Guards Step In
Witnessing the situation unfold, private security guards followed the fleeing vehicle while notifying UHP. The chase ended near 1820 West 465 North, where the suspect and security personnel reportedly got into a confrontation. The security team was able to detain the driver until police arrived.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are now looking into whether the Audi was involved in street racing at the time of the crash. They have also determined that the driver was impaired.
The victim was transported to the hospital and is currently in serious but stable condition. As of now, police have not released any additional details about either the driver or the victim .
