22-Year-Old Ohio Man Dies in Officer-Involved Shooting Incident
Mercer ,Ohio – Authorities have identified the 22-year-old man who was fatally shot in an officer-involved incident early Tuesday morning, along with the deputy who discharged the weapon.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance from Celina police officers at the Dockside Marathon located at 303 S. Main Street around 3 a.m. The situation involved a man reportedly armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Moses Alik, 22, who allegedly raised the knife toward officers. According to the sheriff’s office, a Celina police officer deployed a taser to subdue Alik, but it had no effect.

Cruiser camera footage shows Alik advancing toward Deputy Spencer Heinl while holding the knife above his head. In response, Deputy Heinl fired multiple shots, striking Alik.
Alik was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputy Heinl has been placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with standard procedure. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is currently looking into the incident.
