OREM, Utah — A suspect was killed late Monday night after being shot by law enforcement officers serving a search warrant in Orem, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near 800 East and 400 North. Officers with the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force were executing a search warrant when they encountered a suspect. During the confrontation, officers opened fire, striking the individual.
Emergency crews responded quickly, and officers administered first aid while awaiting paramedics. Despite their efforts, the suspect died at the scene. Officials confirmed that no officers were injured during the exchange.
The Utah County Officer-Involved Protocol Team has launched an investigation into the shooting to determine what led to the fatal use of force.
Just hours earlier, the same task force had conducted a separate search in the same general area, which resulted in the arrest of a man on drug-related charges. According to arrest reports, investigators had been monitoring the man for several weeks and discovered various illegal substances — including methamphetamine, THC, Xanax, and oxycodone — inside a residence near 450 North and 800 East. Messages found on the man’s phone reportedly pointed to narcotics distribution.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected or if the person shot was involved in the earlier drug-related arrest.
This remains an active investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
