WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Authorities are renewing their efforts to solve a 2022 homicide, offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case of 45-year-old Pete Ulibarri, who was fatally shot nearly three years ago.
The deadly shooting occurred just before midnight on May 5, 2022, outside a residence near 3500 South and 6400 West. According to the West Valley City Police Department, a vehicle approached the home, made a U-turn, and then slowed down before multiple gunshots rang out.
Ulibarri was struck during the gunfire and rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related and that the intended target was someone else at the residence. However, investigators emphasized that Ulibarri had no known gang ties and was likely an unintended victim of the violence.
Despite ongoing investigative efforts, the case remains unsolved. Officials say they are still following leads and believe there are individuals who have knowledge about the incident but have not yet come forward.
“We are urging anyone with information to speak up,” West Valley City Police said in a statement released Sunday. “The reward is being offered in hopes of encouraging those with critical details to assist in bringing justice to Mr. Ulibarri’s family.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the West Valley City Police Department. No additional details have been released at this time.
