LAYTON, Utah – A 24-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being electrocuted while working at a home in Layton on Friday afternoon.
Authorities responded to a call around noon reporting an electrical accident on the 1900 block of Deere Valley Drive. According to Layton Police, the worker had been cleaning rain gutters when his ladder made contact with overhead power lines.
A woman assisting him by holding the ladder also sustained injuries, suffering burns on her hands. Emergency crews arrived at the scene, and neighbors performed CPR before first responders took over.
Michael Johnson, a resident of the home where the work was taking place, recalled hearing panicked screams outside.
“By the time I got out there, neighbors were already trying to help,” Johnson said. “It was heartbreaking to see his family members reacting to such a traumatic situation.”
Johnson added that the community is keeping the injured worker in their thoughts.
“We’re just praying for his recovery,” he said.
The man’s current condition remains unknown, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident .
