A tragic case has unfolded after a 10-year-old boy lost his life when his 340-pound foster mother allegedly sat on him for several minutes as a form of discipline. According to court documents reviewed by Express US, the child, Dakota Stevens, suffered fatal injuries after being pinned down.
The incident occurred after Dakota reportedly ran away from the home earlier that morning. When he was brought back, foster mother Jennifer Wilson told police he continued misbehaving, throwing himself onto the front lawn. In response, Wilson sat on him while calling his caseworker, believing it would help calm him down. Witnesses reported hearing Dakota scream before his cries eventually stopped.
Initially, Wilson claimed she thought the 91-pound child was pretending to be hurt. However, she panicked upon noticing his pale eyelids after rolling him over. Paramedics rushed Dakota to a nearby hospital, where he was placed on life support, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries two days later. He had only been in Wilson’s care for a month.
Shocking footage from a Ring camera captured the horrifying moment, showing Wilson sitting on the boy’s head and neck as he screamed in distress before falling silent. Realizing the severity of the situation, Wilson shouted for one of her other children to call 911 and repeatedly called Dakota’s name.
At the time of the incident, Wilson was fostering three other children. If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison .
