SALT LAKE CITY – Good morning, Utah! Sunday starts off clear and chilly, with high pressure maintaining dry and mild conditions through the remainder of the weekend. Skies will stay mostly clear, and temperatures will gradually warm. By Monday, highs are expected to climb about 5 degrees above average, with some northern valleys potentially reaching 60°F.
The quiet weather pattern will persist until midweek, when a significant storm system is set to arrive. Beginning late Wednesday and continuing through Friday, the system is expected to bring mountain snowfall and the potential for snow in the valleys. Strong southwest winds will develop Wednesday afternoon, with the highest gusts forecasted in western Utah.
As the storm system moves in Wednesday night into Thursday, precipitation levels will rise. Initially, snow levels will be higher, but a cold front sweeping through on Thursday will cause a sharp temperature drop, allowing snow to reach valley floors by late Thursday into Friday morning. Current projections suggest significant snowfall in the mountains, with several inches possible in lower elevations.
By Friday, temperatures could plunge 10-20 degrees below normal. More details on the storm’s impact will become clear in the coming days. Stay updated with our latest weather reports online and on-air .
