- Hawaii, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands: Maximum benefit of $376
- 48 Contiguous States & Washington, D.C.: Maximum of $292 per individual through September 30, 2025
On average, most recipients in the lower 48 states receive about $199 per month in food assistance. Any adjustments to SNAP benefits due to the 2026 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will take effect after September 30, 2025.

Who Qualifies for SNAP Benefits in March?
To receive March 2025 SNAP benefits, individuals and families must meet income and resource limits set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Eligibility is typically based on household income, family size, and financial resources.
Some applicants may qualify for expedited SNAP benefits, allowing them to receive assistance sooner if they have an urgent need. For example, those who apply for SNAP in Texas or Florida this month may still receive a March 28th payment if their application is processed quickly.
Work Requirements for Certain Recipients
Able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWD) must meet work requirements to continue receiving food assistance beyond three months in a three-year period. They must:
- Work at least 80 hours per month, or
- Participate in an approved work training or employment program
