A routine patrol by Salt Lake City’s Bike Squad led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of dealing methamphetamine near Library Square. Officers apprehended Donald Williams, 54, and Jerrica Hart, 38, after observing suspicious transactions early Tuesday morning.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, officers were conducting proactive patrols in high-traffic areas when they noticed a pattern of exchanges involving Hart. Individuals were seen handing her money before waiting and later meeting up with Williams. This behavior raised officers’ suspicions, prompting them to intervene.
A search of their belongings revealed cash and small plastic baggies, which authorities believe were used in drug transactions. Both suspects were taken into custody and charged with distribution of a controlled substance, along with possession of drug paraphernalia. They were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail as the investigation continues.
The police department emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Utah’s privacy laws generally prevent the release of booking photos, with exceptions for specific circumstances, such as threats to public safety. As authorities continue their investigation, additional developments may emerge that could further clarify the case.
