A man was taken into custody Monday night on charges related to stolen property, including a firearm, after officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) investigated a report of stolen electronics.
The incident unfolded when police responded to a call about stolen electronics at a home located at 1391 S. Utahna Cir. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted a running vehicle in the area. Upon speaking with the driver, they noticed electronics inside the vehicle that matched the stolen items’ description.
The driver was later identified as 40-year-old Jerami Esquibel, who was found to have an active felony warrant. In addition to the stolen electronics, officers discovered a stolen handgun, as well as methamphetamine and cocaine in the vehicle.
Esquibel was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. He now faces charges that include possession of drugs with intent to distribute, theft of a firearm, theft, and operating a vehicle without a license.
Keelee McCain is a junior at Weber High School. This is her second year on staff, this year as Assistant to the Chief. She does have a life (probably) but she can't think of anything to write in here, so she's probably just going to ramble now. She has an orange cat who she likes better than any human. If you see her being quiet or not sitting on top of a desk, there is something very wrong. In her free time she enjoys harassing her favorite teachers and sleeping. Her life plans include making it through high school and leaving. Happy lifeing.
