Oreo’s Parent Company Offering Up to $7,000 in Data Breach Settlement – Claim with Proof
Millions of consumers may soon receive payments as part of a class action settlement stemming from a major data breach involving Mondelez International, the company behind Oreo cookies.
Mondelez, which also owns popular snack brands like Triscuit, Toblerone, and Sour Patch Kids, reached a settlement after facing allegations of inadequate cybersecurity practices following a breach in February 2023. The breach exposed sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers, addresses, health details, and more.
While Mondelez and its legal team, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, deny any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to pay $750,000 to resolve the claims.
Who Is Eligible for Payment?
Consumers who were affected by the breach and received a notification from Mondelez, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, or Chicago IVF are eligible for compensation. This notification would have informed them that their personal data might have been compromised. If you did not receive this notification, you are not eligible for the settlement.
How to File a Claim
To participate in the settlement, affected individuals must submit a claim using a special Class Member ID included in the notice. The claim form must be filed on the settlement website, where the ID is required to proceed.
The deadline to submit a claim is February 10, 2025. However, note that the deadline for exclusions and objections has already passed, and the final approval hearing is scheduled for January 21.
How Much Will You Get?
Eligible claimants who can demonstrate out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach may receive up to $7,000. This compensation can cover various costs such as bank fees, credit monitoring services, fraudulent charges, and identity theft damages.
In addition to out-of-pocket expenses, claimants may also be eligible for up to $125 for lost time, with a maximum of five hours at a rate of $25 per hour.

For those who had their personal data compromised but did not incur financial losses, payments will be issued as well, although the amount is not yet specified. The final payout will depend on the number of claims submitted and how much money remains after those with documented losses receive their compensation.
Other Upcoming Settlement Payouts
In addition to the Mondelez settlement, other major class action payouts are on the horizon. One such case involves a $2.2 million home settlement, where consumers can file claims with proof to receive their share. Another settlement involves a data breach related to physical therapy services, with payments reaching up to $5,000 for affected individuals.
As more settlements are finalized, it’s important for consumers to stay aware of opportunities to claim compensation for data breaches and other incidents
