Three Arrested in Fraud Scheme After Stolen Herriman Truck Found on Facebook Marketplace

SALT LAKE CITY – Three Venezuelan nationals were arrested Monday after police uncovered an alleged vehicle theft and VIN fraud operation in Salt Lake County.

The suspects—Robert Garcia Aldana, 31, Neill Ramos Oliveros, 29, and Wilger Flores Gomez, 30—were taken into custody following an investigation by Herriman Police. The probe began when detectives discovered a stolen Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Officers traced the truck to an area near 15000 S Academy Parkway, where they found the vehicle’s identification number (VIN) had been tampered with. Further checks revealed that the truck had been stolen from Texas.

Police continued their surveillance and observed the truck being driven into a garage at a home in Herriman. Flores Gomez was reportedly behind the wheel, while Garcia Aldana and Ramos Oliveros trailed in a second vehicle, acting as a lookout. The stolen truck was then driven to a location arranged for the sale.

A search warrant executed at the residence on Pure Nirvana Lane revealed a range of equipment used to forge vehicle titles and VIN stickers, including a specialized printer and film paper. Investigators also found multiple counterfeit Utah vehicle titles and VIN stickers.

Authorities believe this operation may be part of a broader, ongoing scheme. Court documents suggest that a second stolen vehicle, sold in Riverton, was linked to the same Facebook account just days earlier.

All three suspects now face several felony charges, including providing false evidence of title and registration. Garcia Aldana and Ramos Oliveros are also facing charges related to unlawful activity patterns, while Flores Gomez may face an additional charge of receiving a stolen vehicle
