Sandy Police Arrest Grocery Theft Suspects After Caught on Camera
A shocking crime took place at a local grocery store in East Sandy on Friday, when two thieves boldly loaded shopping carts full of groceries and made a swift getaway. The incident, which was caught on camera, has left the community stunned and on edge.
At first, bystanders assumed the disturbance was the result of an emergency. Ammon Hanks, one of the witnesses, shared his account of the events.
“I heard a man yell, ‘If you get any closer, I’m going to beat you up,’” Hanks recalled.
Recognizing the potential danger, Hanks and the store manager decided to keep their distance, prioritizing safety.
“We didn’t want to take any risks. We didn’t know who these people were,” Hanks explained.
Although the situation was tense, Hanks made the decision to continue recording on his phone, a move that police believe could be crucial in identifying the culprits.

“Being a good witness is extremely important,” Sgt. Greg Moffitt of the Sandy Police Department said. “Footage like this can significantly help us track down suspects. Any detail you can provide can make all the difference.”
The store, identified as Ream’s, praised its employees for following proper protocols during the incident.
“We are proud of how our team responded. They followed safety procedures and handled the situation effectively,” Ream’s said in a statement to KSL TV.
Longtime customer Liz Longacre expressed her outrage at the audacity of the thieves.
“It’s unbelievable that people are so bold to do something like this,” Longacre remarked. “They didn’t even care that they were being filmed.”
