Salt Lake City Police Shooting: Suspect Dies After Attack on Officer During Traffic Stop

Salt Lake City – Police have confirmed that Chandler Grillone, 32, died on Friday after being shot by Salt Lake City officers during a traffic stop early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 1:41 a.m. near 375 South and 765 West. While Grillone was not involved in the traffic stop itself, investigators believe he attacked an officer with a weapon, prompting the officer to fire at least one round.

Salt Lake City Police Department officials have not confirmed the exact nature of the weapon, but they reported that the officer suffered an injury consistent with a sharp-edged object. The incident is under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the altercation between Grillone and the officer.

The shooting occurred during a routine traffic stop, but Grillone’s involvement in the incident appeared to be unrelated to the initial traffic violation. Authorities are continuing to gather details surrounding his actions before the officer was injured and subsequently fired his weapon.
