Salt Lake City – The incident occurred early Thursday morning near 375 South 765 West when 32-year-old Chandler Grillone approached Salt Lake City police officers who were handling a traffic stop. Although Grillone was not involved in the stop, he allegedly approached an officer while carrying a weapon.
According to the police, Grillone ignored multiple commands and proceeded to confront, challenge, and attack the officer. In response, the officer fired at least one shot. Police did not specify the type of weapon Grillone had, but they reported that the officer sustained an injury consistent with a sharp-edged object.
Grillone was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead on Friday.
The situation is under investigation, and no other injuries have been reported. Authorities cautioned that this information is based on the preliminary investigation and may change as further details emerge.
