SALT LAKE CITY — Nearly a year after her passing, Julia Reagan, the Utah woman whose family honored her memory with billboards, continues to capture the attention of local residents. The updated billboards, which feature new designs, have sparked fresh conversations across Utah.
Julia Reagan, who passed away in June 2024 at the age of 81, became a prominent figure in local culture after her family began displaying billboards in her honor. The original billboards, unveiled shortly after her death, quickly became a symbol of remembrance. Locals even paid tribute by dressing up as the billboards for Halloween and getting tattoos in Julia’s honor.
Now, in April 2025, the new billboard designs are attracting even more attention. A Reddit user shared a photo of the updated designs, remarking, “New Julia Reagan just dropped,” with the post quickly gaining thousands of reactions and hundreds of comments. Just a few days later, the same user shared another updated billboard image, further igniting discussions across social media.
The billboards, displayed by Reagan Outdoor Advertising—a company founded by Julia’s husband, William Reagan, in the 1960s—feature different images of Julia and various messages, each with distinct background colors. These updates offer a fresh take on the original billboards, which were more uniform in design and carried simpler messages.
Julia’s passing in June 2024 was followed by a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her family in February 2025. The lawsuit alleges that negligence at the University of Utah Hospital contributed to her death.
ABC4.com reached out to Reagan Outdoor Advertising to learn more about the updated billboard designs and any future plans, but has yet to receive a response.
Julia Reagan’s legacy continues to resonate with Utahns, and the updated billboards are only strengthening the connection between her and the community she left behind.
