LAYTON, Utah — The director of a K-6 charter school in Layton, Utah, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with producing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), commonly referred to as child pornography.
Jared Dallan Buckley, 40, faces serious charges, including two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, both first-degree felonies, and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
The arrest follows an investigation initiated by law enforcement in New York, who had received files containing CSAM from the suspect in October 2024. New York authorities reached out to Utah officials to help identify the individual behind the account reportedly selling and distributing the illicit material. According to court documents, preliminary findings suggest that Buckley may also be involved in producing CSAM outside the United States.
Utah investigators traced the device used to send the material to Buckley’s cell phone. After executing a search warrant, they confirmed that the phone was in his possession. A preliminary forensic analysis of the device revealed several CSAM files.
Buckley has been employed with the charter school since 2014 and currently serves as the “Lead Director” overseeing the school’s campuses in Layton and Ogden. His biography on the school’s website also notes that he has ties to various local youth sports organizations.
After his arrest, Buckley was booked into Davis County Jail, where he remains without bail. Authorities have emphasized that the charges are allegations, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Anyone with further information on the case is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
