ATLANTA — Despite a career-best performance from Keyonte George, the Utah Jazz continued their downward spiral with a 147-135 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
George lit up the scoreboard with 35 points, draining seven 3-pointers and shooting 10-of-19 from the field. But the Jazz couldn’t keep pace with the hot-shooting Hawks, extending their losing streak to nine games and marking their 19th loss in their last 20 outings.
The Jazz defense struggled once again, surrendering at least 140 points for the third straight game. Atlanta capitalized, shooting 57% from the floor and knocking down 22 of 41 attempts from beyond the arc.
Onyeka Okongwu led the way for the Hawks with a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Trae Young added 23 points and 15 assists, controlling the tempo and orchestrating key plays down the stretch. His deep 3-pointer from near midcourt helped seal the win with just minutes left in regulation.
Caris LeVert chipped in 21 points, Dyson Daniels added 19, and Vit Krejci was perfect from the field, hitting all six of his shots — including five from long range — to finish with 17 points.
For Utah, Collin Sexton contributed 27 points and Isaiah Collier continued his impressive rookie campaign with 17 points and 12 assists. Collier now has 446 assists this season, the highest total by a rookie since Ja Morant posted 488 in the 2019-20 season.
Despite shooting an efficient 52% from the field and sinking 20 threes, the Jazz were unable to recover from a sluggish defensive showing. Atlanta racked up 81 first-half points — the second straight game in which Utah has allowed 80+ points in a half. Just two days earlier, the Indiana Pacers torched the Jazz for 83 second-half points in a 140-112 blowout.
The Jazz, still searching for answers, haven’t notched back-to-back wins since early January when they defeated Miami and Orlando on consecutive nights.
Utah returns to Salt Lake City to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, hoping to snap their skid on home court.
