SALT LAKE CITY — During the 195th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson unveiled plans for 15 new temples around the world.
The announcement was made through a prerecorded message during the Sunday afternoon session on April 6. The newly designated locations span across multiple continents, including North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Here are the locations for the newly announced temples:

President Nelson has significantly increased temple construction since becoming the Church’s prophet in 2018. With these latest additions, he has now announced 200 temples during his leadership. In 2024 alone, he revealed plans for 32 new temples — 15 in April and 17 in October.
According to the Church’s end-of-year statistics for 2024, there were 194 operating temples, 59 under construction, and 114 more in various stages of planning or development. Sixteen temples were dedicated last year alone.
Temples hold a unique place in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Unlike regular meetinghouses or chapels — which are open to both members and visitors for Sunday services — temples are considered sacred spaces reserved for specific religious ordinances and are not generally open to the public.
Announcements of new temples traditionally occur during the Church’s General Conference, held every April and October. Each session of the conference lasts about two hours and is broadcast to a worldwide audience.
As of December 2024, the Church reported more than 17.5 million members worldwide and over 31,600 congregations. For further details on each of the 15 newly announced temples, members and the public can visit the Church’s official website.
