TOOELE, Utah — A 16-year-old boy who lost his life in a suspected DUI crash over the weekend has been identified as Conner Russell.
Russell was a student at Riverton High School, the Jordan School District confirmed. To support grieving classmates, crisis counselors will be available when students return from spring break.
A GoFundMe page created in Conner’s memory describes him as a “bright, fun, and loving young man” with a promising future. The fundraiser aims to assist his mother with funeral expenses and other unforeseen costs. His funeral services are scheduled for next week, according to a local mortuary.
The Riverton Youth Football organization, where Conner once played, also shared condolences, noting that his dedication and spirit had a meaningful impact on the community.
The crash occurred on March 30, and authorities say both Russell and the driver, identified as 18-year-old Jaxon Douglas-David Wood, were ejected from the vehicle. Russell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wood was taken into custody on March 30 and faces multiple charges, including a second-degree felony count of automobile homicide. Court records show he is being held without bail.
While an online fundraiser has been launched in Conner’s honor, ABC4.com is not associated with the effort and cannot verify how the funds will be distributed .
