
SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – Officials have released the identities of the two individuals found with gunshot wounds inside a Saratoga Springs home on Friday, March 28. Among the victims was an 8-year-old boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 44-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
Victims Identified
Authorities confirmed the victims as Eli Painter, 8, and Jessica Lyman, 44. Emergency responders arrived at the residence and found Painter deceased, with no possibility of resuscitation. Lyman was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition as of Sunday.
Investigation & Suspect Search
The Saratoga Springs Police Department (SSPD) stated in a March 30 press release that investigators are still processing evidence and working to identify potential suspects. Family members and individuals who were in the home have either been interviewed or are scheduled for questioning.
The victims were discovered at a home on Willowbrook Lane after a 17-year-old returned home and called 911. Emergency services initially responded to what was reported as a medical assist call at approximately 10:15 a.m. However, after arriving, officers secured the scene and launched a full-scale homicide investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives, forensic teams, and the medical examiner have been gathering evidence at the scene. Law enforcement officials have also conducted a neighborhood canvass, seeking witnesses and surveillance footage to aid in the case.
Authorities emphasized that all possible investigative methods are being utilized, but no further details have been disclosed at this time.
