CENTERVILLE, Utah — Authorities are urging residents to steer clear of the intersection at 400 West and Parrish Lane due to a gas leak that forced a full closure of the area. Officials warn that the shutdown may impact traffic into Tuesday morning.
The Centerville Police Department first alerted the public Monday afternoon, stating that the intersection had been shut down in all directions.
“Crews are actively working to resolve the issue,” police said in a statement Monday evening. “At this time, there is no clear timeline for reopening the area.”
Cause of the Leak and Safety Measures
The gas leak was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. when a construction crew accidentally damaged a gas line. Due to the severity of the break, officials determined it was necessary to close the intersection as a safety precaution.
Despite the incident, Jorgan Hofeling of Enbridge Gas assured residents that there is no immediate danger to the public, and gas service is expected to remain uninterrupted.
Traffic and Commuter Advisory
Authorities are asking motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians to find alternate routes until repairs are completed and the area is deemed safe for travel.
Officials will provide further updates as more information becomes available .
