On January 3, officers spotted a green Toyota 4Runner driving recklessly near 4100 South and State Street. When the police activated their lights, the driver accelerated away. Shortly after, the 4Runner was involved in a collision, but the driver attempted to flee the scene. However, the vehicle was too damaged to continue moving.

McVay reportedly exited the passenger side of the vehicle and ran on foot despite officers’ commands to stop. A citizen who witnessed the incident located McVay and brought her back to the scene, where police confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen by Cottonwood Heights Police.

No injuries were reported from the crash. McVay is now facing several charges in connection with the incident.
