Man on Parole Faces Multiple Charges After Kidnapping Victim Over Owed Debt
Salt Lake City – A man on parole was arrested after allegedly kidnapping and threatening to kill another man over a debt.
Hector Chacon, 31, was taken into custody on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, transaction of a firearm by a restricted person, and possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute. These charges are primarily first-degree felonies, with some second-degree felonies as well.
The incident occurred on Friday when a man contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department, claiming he was threatened with a firearm by Chacon over an outstanding debt. According to the police affidavit, Chacon struck the victim in the face multiple times with a handgun, causing a broken nose and eye injuries.

The victim described being forced into Chacon’s car, where he was driven around and threatened. He reportedly feared for his life, believing he would be shot if he attempted to flee. During part of the assault, the victim managed to stay on the phone with 911 dispatchers.
Chacon allegedly stole the victim’s wallet during the ordeal. Police later found the victim’s driver’s license in Chacon’s bedroom, along with over 30 grams of cocaine, a scale, numerous small plastic bags, and a large sum of small bills banded together with rubber bands.
Chacon was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and remains in custody facing multiple charges.
