Utah Ranks in U-Haul’s Top 10 Most Popular Moving Destinations for 2024
Utah remains a top destination for people moving in the United States, according to both federal migration data and U-Haul’s annual moving trends report. In 2024, U-Haul ranked Utah as the ninth most popular state for one-way moves, marking a rise of four spots from the previous year. This continued shift toward the South and West reflects ongoing migration patterns, with the West and South dominating the list.

U-Haul’s report, which analyzed over 2.5 million one-way truck, trailer, and moving container transactions, revealed that South Carolina ranked first for the first time, surpassing Texas. Texas remained in second place, holding onto a position in the top two since 2016. North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee filled the third, fourth, and fifth spots, respectively. Arizona, at number six, was the top state from the West, with Washington, Utah, and Idaho rounding out the list. Indiana was the only state in the Top 10 not located in the South or West.
