SALT LAKE CITY — Happy Friday, Utah! After a chilly start to the day, temperatures are on the rise as high pressure continues shifting eastward.
Expect highs today to climb into the low to mid-50s in northern Utah, while southwestern Utah will enjoy temperatures reaching the mid-70s. Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear, leading to another brisk morning on Saturday, with lows dipping into the 20s and 30s up north and the 30s and 40s in the south.
The dominant weather pattern this weekend will be high pressure, though a weak low-pressure system could brush past southern Utah, bringing a slight chance of isolated showers. A more significant storm system is shaping up for early next week, with a better likelihood of widespread precipitation and cooler temperatures Monday into Tuesday.
As this system moves through, northern mountains could see mostly snow, while rain is expected in the valleys on Monday. By Tuesday morning, snow levels may drop to mountain valleys and possibly near the valley floors, leading to a mix of rain and snow or even some valley snowfall. Although it’s too early to determine exact accumulation amounts, mountain regions are likely to receive measurable snow.
Looking ahead, the weather pattern is expected to stay active through the end of next week and into mid-March, with additional storm systems on the horizon.
