WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A stolen vehicle slammed into an apartment in West Valley City on Friday evening, leaving two units uninhabitable and forcing residents to seek assistance.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on February 28 along the 2100 West block of 3600 South. According to officials, the driver fled the scene after colliding with the basement-level apartment.
Fortunately, the tenant living in the unit was not home at the time. Authorities noted that the resident had only moved in two days prior to the crash.
Investigators believe the car was stolen, though the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under review. Officials have not released any details about potential suspects.
Due to the extent of the damage, a building inspector deemed both the basement apartment and the unit above it unsafe for occupancy. The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the incident.
No injuries have been reported, and officials are continuing to investigate. Further updates will be provided as more details become available.
