Authorities are investigating an overnight armed robbery at a restaurant in Uptown after a suspect attempted to steal from both a customer and the cash register.
The incident took place shortly after midnight near Montrose and Clark, where a 30-year-old man was dining inside the establishment. Police said an armed individual approached the patron, demanding his valuables. The victim complied without resistance.
After taking the man’s belongings, the suspect turned his attention to the restaurant’s cash register. Employees quickly stepped aside as he tried to access the register, but his attempts to open it were unsuccessful.
Unable to retrieve any cash, the suspect fled the scene. Police are continuing their investigation.
