A man from Utah has been arrested in New Jersey after allegedly making online threats against a well-known New York City synagogue. The arrest took place on Friday evening, with Luis Ramirez, 23, taken into custody by the Port Authority Police Department near the Lincoln Tunnel, as confirmed by the NYPD and ABC7.
According to police, Ramirez posted a threatening message on X (formerly Twitter) targeting the Central Synagogue located at Lexington Avenue and East 55th Street. The post read: “I WILL BE VISITING MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN NYC TOMORROW PULL UP TO SHABBAT AT THE CENTRAL SYNAGOGUE 6PM.”
In addition to this post, Ramirez made another disturbing statement on Friday, referencing the Holocaust and expressing a belief in past-life connections to Adolf Hitler.
Ramirez was arrested and taken to the Hudson County Jail in New Jersey, where he awaits further legal proceedings. Charges are still being determined as the investigation continues.
