Winter Storm Arrives Thursday
A strong winter storm is expected to move into Utah by midday Thursday, bringing widespread snowfall across the state.
- Northern and central Utah will see steady snowfall, while St. George may experience a rain-snow mix.
- Snow levels will fluctuate, starting near 4,000 feet before rising to around 5,500 feet by Thursday night into Friday morning.
- Higher elevations will see all snow, leading to significant accumulations.
As temperatures briefly warm, some lower elevations may transition to cold rain or a rain-snow mix. However, colder air will return Friday night into Saturday morning, bringing another round of snow for valley locations.
Winter Storm Warnings Issued
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all Utah mountain regions from Thursday through Saturday.
- Northern and central mountains, Western Uintas, Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, and the Wasatch Back: Warning in effect Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon.
- Southern Mountains and Bryce Canyon County: Winter Storm Warning ends Friday evening.

- Northern mountains: 1-2 feet, with the Upper Cottonwoods potentially receiving up to 3 feet.

- Southern mountains: 10-20 inches.

- Valley floors: Accumulation will vary, with dusting to 2 inches expected, while benches could see 2-4 inches.
