Dollar General is undergoing a major leadership shake-up, bringing in two new executives to help guide the company’s ongoing expansion and improve store operations.
New Leadership Appointments
The company has named Steve Deckard as the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Development and Tracey Herrmann as the Executive Vice President of Store Operations. These appointments are expected to accelerate Dollar General’s growth while enhancing in-store experiences for customers.
Steve Deckard will be responsible for expanding the company’s footprint by opening new stores across the country. With 20,000 locations already operating, Dollar General remains committed to aggressive expansion.
CEO Todd Vasos praised Deckard’s experience, saying:
“Steve’s deep understanding of our business, spanning store operations, real estate, and financial planning, has played a key role in our success. His leadership in launching our first international market in Mexico proves he is well-equipped to guide our growth strategy.”
Meanwhile, Tracey Herrmann will oversee daily store operations, ensuring that stores run efficiently and provide a seamless shopping experience.
Vasos highlighted Herrmann’s contributions, stating:
“Tracey’s leadership and commitment to operational excellence have been instrumental to our success. Her dedication to innovation and efficiency will help us remain competitive while delivering top-tier service to our customers.”
Expanding Footprint and Store Enhancements
Dollar General has ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond, including:
- Opening 800 new stores nationwide.
- Remodeling 1,500 locations to enhance customer experience.
- Relocating 85 stores to optimize operations and improve accessibility.
Deckard has been with Dollar General since 2006, previously serving as a regional store director before leading the company’s expansion into Mexico. His new role puts him at the forefront of the company’s growth strategy.
Herrmann, who has been with the company for 12 years, has overseen multiple store divisions in the Southeast and has played key roles in merchandising, pricing, and operations. Her leadership will now extend across the entire Dollar General network.
With these leadership changes in place, Dollar General is poised to continue its rapid expansion while enhancing operations to better serve its customers.
