Grace McCallum delivered a standout performance in the all-around competition, scoring 39.65 to help the fourth-ranked Utah gymnastics team defeat No. 19 Arizona with a final score of 197.675 to 196.125.
The Red Rocks celebrated their 50th anniversary in front of a packed crowd of 13,115 fans at the Huntsman Center on Friday night, turning in their second-highest team score of the season.
McCallum & Smith Lead the Way
McCallum emphasized the team’s steady growth, saying, “I feel like we’re making great progress as a team—slow and steady, but exactly what we need to reach our ultimate goal. Everyone should be proud of their performance tonight.”
Makenna Smith placed second in the all-around and stood out with the highest scores on both vault (9.975) and floor exercise (9.950).
Head coach Carly Dockendorf praised her team’s effort, calling it a special night:
“The energy in the arena was incredible. Having so many fans and alumni in attendance made this an unforgettable evening. I was really proud of how the team elevated their performance across the board.”

Avery Neff’s Comeback

“I truly thought my season had ended,” Neff admitted. “But I recovered quickly, and stepping back onto the competition floor felt amazing.”
Looking Ahead
Dockendorf reflected on the night’s achievements:
“Tonight, we set out to do something special, and I believe we did just that. Seeing the hard work pay off in competition was incredibly rewarding.”
