A tragic accident in Tooele County early Thursday morning resulted in a fatality, according to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).
Authorities reported that just before 7 a.m. on February 6, a white Ford F-150 was stopped at a stop sign on Parachute Lane, preparing to turn left onto southbound SR-179.
At the same time, a dark green 1999 Dodge Caravan was traveling north on SR-179, heading toward I-80. Officials stated that the F-150 proceeded with the turn but failed to yield, crossing into the path of the oncoming Caravan.
The impact occurred when the Caravan struck the driver’s side of the F-150. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the Caravan’s driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the F-150 was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to their injuries.
Following the crash, authorities temporarily closed the intersection to conduct an investigation.
Keelee McCain is a junior at Weber High School. This is her second year on staff, this year as Assistant to the Chief. She does have a life (probably) but she can't think of anything to write in here, so she's probably just going to ramble now. She has an orange cat who she likes better than any human. If you see her being quiet or not sitting on top of a desk, there is something very wrong. In her free time she enjoys harassing her favorite teachers and sleeping. Her life plans include making it through high school and leaving. Happy lifeing.
