A dramatic rescue took place Saturday night at Stansbury Lake in Tooele County when a man fell through the ice while attempting to save a dog.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on February 1, emergency responders were called to a home on the lake’s shore after reports surfaced that a man had fallen into the frigid waters. Firefighters from the North Tooele Fire District, along with several other agencies, rushed to the scene, bringing specialized ice rescue equipment to assist with the operation.
In a quick-thinking move, a Tooele County Sheriff’s deputy used a rope to pull the man from the icy water, successfully bringing him to safety.
Both the man and the dog were treated at the scene for exposure but are expected to recover without further complications.
